I Was A King US-tour: Chicago & Cleveland
OSLO-CHICAGO May 25th
Chicago is now very real and very big, it’s hard to see where the city starts or ends, if it ever does, as we go by cab from the airport . We realize that I was a King has actually entered the United States of America for real. What is more difficult to grasp, is that three weeks later we’ll end the tour in Seattle, having visited almost 20 different places in between these two cities.
Chicago May 26 - The Empty Bottle
First gig ever in the States. But before we could even think of playing, we had to sort out our backline. The basic backline arrived with the van we’re renting, and we spent the first half of the day visiting a few great music equiptment shops in Chicago to pick up the last things that we were missing (and admire all the nice gear that is so rarely seen in Norway). Thanks to the people who helped us out!
The windy city turned out to be the rainy city as well. The rain was pouring down outside, and at one point even inside The Empty Bottle. Our friends in 120 Days had already told us that we could look forward to a really cool venue - and they were right: we had a great time playing, and met some nice bands and a lovely audience. You guys were the first people we met - and what a warm welcome it was. Thanks!

Cleveland May 27 - Beachland Tavern
The second show was at Beachland in Cleveland, and we actually had time to check out some shops, as there was a record store next door with a nice selection of CDs and vinyls, and second hand clothes in the basement. We enjoyed watching Kong Sauce and The Dreadful Yawns, and had even more fun on stage afterwards.
It is always a pleasure to meet people who are genuinely interested in music, and we met a few this night. And we also met a guy who knew some Norwegian, even though half of it was Swedish.
